Overview
After Alices in Wonderland", "Trứng" was our final assignment for the "Developing Shotlist" course which was under the guidance of lecturer Yu Tran. We also received the script and had to develop the storyline as well as create a shotlist for it.
Our short film "Trứng" was inspired by the beauty of traditional Southern Vietnamese markets. We aimed to create a contrast between the two main characters, as well as between outward appearances and inner struggles. The film follows two boys planning a crime, the details of backward story was not mentioned.
In the original script, the setting was a crowded morning market. However, we decided to shift the timeline to when the market 'wakes up'—a time not yet bustling with shoppers but alive with early morning preparations. It helps immersed the two boys deeper into the working-class environment to heighten their inner conflict
